Big Brother Africa Amplified produced two winners–Karen from Nigeria, and Wendall from Zimbabwe.  Although many people had already picked Karen to win, they were surprised that Wendall came out the other winner.

The finale included lively performances by Fally Ipupa, Amplified Dance Crew, Wizkid, Mo’Cheddah, and Cpwaa, that set the stage for the finale.  Karen and Wendall were beside themselves when they found out they were the winners as they were not aware that there would be two winners.  Each of them will get US $200,000.

Big Brother Amplified: Vina, a definite finalist

By virtue of winning the Head of House Task on Friday and surviving Eviction on Sunday, Vina became the first Amplified Housemate to be guaranteed a spot in the Final week.

She has a Save and Replace decision and in the event she does not opt to place herself on the firing line the same way Karen did when she was Head of House, she can safely consider herself one step closer to the big prize.

Since there's only one eviction show left before the finale, Vina can use powers vested upon her as Head of House and secure a shot at the USD200 000 prize money.

Throughout her stay in the Big Brother House, Vina only dodged nominations once; that happened the first week when Housemates were reunited.

Other than that, she has been up for possible eviction each week the Heads House nominated but she had an opportunity to save herself and replace with Felicia, who was eventually evicted.

It would be expected for Vina to feel that - after all the emotional turmoil associated with Evictions - she deserves to get a shot at the big reward.

Baby Jet Dumps Castro

Hip-life musician Castro may have to look elsewhere for a new stage craft to boost his music career because his secondary school mate Asamoah Gyan, the Ghanaian soccer star who is a striker for England's Premier League club Sunderland, says he is no longer interested in music.

Asamoah Gyan aka Baby Jet, for close to a year now, has been the main charm that has shot up Castros's music career after the musician agreed to feature on one of Castro's songs,   'African Girls ',  which became an instant hit with the 'back on and on dance' .

Asamoah and Castro again released a duet, 'Do The Dance', and the song is still topping music charts.

Indeed, Asamaoh Gyan has been the main reason why Castro seems to be reigning on the music chart in recent times but the soccer star says it is time to say goodbye to showbiz and concentrate on his football career.

Baby Jet is leaving the music stage at a time the applause is loudest for him and he would be forever remembered as one of Ghana's best entertainers. But it definitely does not come as welcome news for Castro, who more or less is soaring to greater heights on the wings of the footballer.

Reports say Asamoah Gyan is quitting music because a couple of soccer legends have advised him to concentrate on his football career if he really wants to go far in life and achieve greater feats.

Felix Aboagye, a former Ghanaian International footballer who played for Mumbai FC and Anthony Yeboah of 'Yegola' fame are reported to be among the several soccer legends who advised Baby Jet to concentrate on his football and shun his night club music performances and musical concerts.

'My two songs which have been top of the charts are okay for now. I have to concentrate on my football career…I have heard people saying 'he should concentrate on his football career'…But I am a very determined person with my job. Off the field, I joke a lot but when it gets to work time, I am fully concentrated,'   Gyan was quoted by Ghana soccer.net.

Less than a week ago, Baby Jet spoke to NEWS-ONE about how he handles his fame:

Most Entertaining Person in Ghana
'Yeah, it is true I was given that award recently and I thank Ghanaians for that. I just do my best as I said. When I see the crowd and they want me to entertain them, I just do it without feeling shy or feeling big. I am me and I want them to see me just as I am. Castro and I rehearse a lot and I try to do my best for the fans.'

What is the magic?
'Well I attribute it to God. I just do my best and leave the rest to him. My big brother here has been very helpful and he is my secret to success. He advises me and tells me how to go about things from football to everything. I owe him a lot and I must say that here.'

The Asamoah Gyan Dance
'That one too is just great and we would be releasing a new one soon. There are more interesting things we want to do for Ghanaians because we love them a lot. As to how I learnt that dance, I can't tell but my boss Castro is here and he may best explain. I just do my best to entertain people especially when I score. I do the dance and everyone seems to like it. I feel happy because we plan to do it on the field and all of a sudden people love it. People should just watch out for something new. Most of my foreign friends (players) love the dance. Anytime we are in the dressing room, I teach them because they are all trying to learn it.'

Asamoah Gyan Foundation
'My brother and I would be coming up with the Asamoah Gyan Foundation this December. It would be a charity foundation and our priority would be to promote female education. We would be doing other things to help society but for now, our aim is to promote the girl child as far as education is concerned. I have the passion to give back to society and that is what pushes me to do this.'

Alex Biney has a crush on Nadia Buari, plans to be an actor

The second evicted Ghanaian representative in the on-going Big Brother Africa Amplified has given indications that he is going to be hitting the entertainment scene pretty hard because he is seriously considering going into movies.

Alex Biney known as 'Bomaye' was in the house for about 70-days, and was among the latest number of evictees from the Big Brother Africa house.

He told The Globe entertainment that he has a number of proposals he is considering as of now but he is very likely to go into movies.

“Well I have had several offers since I came out of the house, especially from movie directors and I am seriously considering that”.

Alex Biney and Confidence Haugen were among 14 other competitors from other countries competing for the ultimate prize of $200,000.

Now that the two Ghanaian are out of the competition, Alex has named two people he thinks stand a good chance of winning the cash prize.

“Nigeria's Karen and South Africa's Luclay are at the forefront of the race for the double $200,000 cash prize”.

As the norm has been, every evictee is honoured with an eviction party and Alex's party was held at the Aphrodisiac Nightclub, where Confidence's party was held.

The Globe entertainment was present as usual and managed to chitchat with Alex and what he intends doing with his new found fame. It was there that he revealed that the movie industry is going to be his new destination.

As of the time of this interview, one of the big names in Nigeria's movie industry known as Andy Best had just taken a picture with Alex who could only be described as 'the unknown celebrity' because it was only during his going into the Big Brother House to represent Ghana that he was drawn into the celebrity spotlight.

Globe entertainment eavesdropped on the conversation between Alex and Andy Best who is a producer, a script - writer and a marketer of Nigerian movies we can confirm, that the two exchanged numbers with the latter very eager on working with Alex.

Alex has also hinted that he would be releasing his fashion line which he has been working on for some time now.

“My fashion line is called 'MAGPIE' and we would be coming out very soon starting with Denims, T-shirts, slim fit jeans and many more in the very near future but for now there are several possibilities and I am always open to everyone of them”.

Alex has been granting several interviews since his arrival in the country on Thursday July 14 and it looks like the interview sessions just started. In one such interview, Alex was with one of the country's beautiful actresses Nadia Buari whom he was seriously checking out.

When The Globe entertainment asked him what he thought of the actress he laughingly said “I have a crush on Nadia Buari and I want it to turn into something more than a friendship, so Nadia if you are listening, 'holla @ your boy'...”

With a few weeks to go to the end of The Big Brother Amplified competition, the question still remains, who wins the $200,000 cash prize? No one can tell for now but we are all very certain that it definitely would not be Ghana.

Eddie Nettey and Foster in 'Gallery of Comedies'

Two of the nation's young and brilliant actors, Eddie Nettey and Foster Owusu-Amponsah, will display how funny they can be on stage when they team up with other members of the Globe Theatre Group to put up a play titled 'Gallery of Comedies', at the National Theatre on Saturday, July 23 and Sunday, July 24.

Both young men are graduates of the School of Performing Arts, University of Ghana, Legon.

Eddie has been fairly active on the cinema screens but is also a real gem on stage. Foster is gradually carving a name for himself in the comedy circuit and is a regular on ' Laugh a Minute' on Viasat 1 as well as the comedy shows at the Citizen Kofi Entertainment Centre.

'The Globe Theatre Group is a bunch of extremely talented young actors and they make the ' Gallery of Comedies' so much fun to watch,' says Latif Abubakari Batalima, head of the Globe Company that is producing the play.

' Gallery of Comedies' , scripted by the Nyansapo theatre, emerged as the winner in a call for scripts by the Globe Company.

According to Batalima, though stand-up comedy was common in the system, well-produced full-length plays in the comedy vein were not staged regularly. That is why his outfit had decided to put out at least one comic play annually, starting from this year.

'We had several scripts to choose from and Nyansapo's work emerged as a very strong contender capable of entertaining and holding audience with its funny but very educative storyline,' Batalima said.

'Gallery of Comedies' is a high voltage drama that plays out in a virgin church and school. Professor Chibere establishes the school with the aim of promoting socio-economic development. Some of his students, a bunch of young men, however begin to admire his daughter and that sets them on a collision course with the professor.

There will be two shows each day, 4:00pm and 8:00pm. The Globe Theatre Group used to be known as TLG and it performed the ' Romantic Nonsense' and ' Kiss The Corpse' plays written by Nii Commey.

'Remember, the world is a stage and life is drama,' Batalima states.

The ' Gallery of Comedies' is a production by the Globe Company in partnership with Joy FM and GTV. It is sponsored by rLG Communication.

Big Brother Amplified: Bernadina, Zeus and Mumba evicted

As the Big Brother Africa (Amplified) reality show continues its knife-edge stages, three more housemates, Bernadina, Zeus and Mumba have been evicted from the show Sunday.

Prior to Sundays live eviction show, 13 housemates had already been evicted from the show and with about two weeks to go, the reality show went into a different gear as the competition got keener.

Last week's eviction show took viewers by surprise as Big Brother boldly for the first time in this season's show evicted three housemates, Alex, Miss P and Weza.

Sunday's eviction which had Bernadina, Lomwe, Vina, Mumba and Zeus up for eviction was no different from last week's as Big Brother decided to implement the 'three' eviction rule once again.

After a recap of the week's activities, the agony of eviction stated taking its toll as IK, host of the show, reached out to Vimbai, Head of House, to officially declare who she is saving from possible eviction and who she putting in that person's place.

The Head of House who was dressed in a towel decided to save her fellow country man, Wendall, who interestingly she also has a thing for, putting Mumba up for eviction.

When evictions started, Namibian housemate, Bernadina was the first to be asked by IK to leave the house. After sharing final hugs and kisses with housemates, she left the house to the Amplified stage.

After coming to terms with the housemates who nominated her for eviction, Bernadina was shocked to know that her trusted pal Luclay also nominated her for eviction. She was however quick to blow a fuse at him. Luclay's fuse prevents him from receiving any message from home all week.

Botswanan housemate, Zeus was the second housemate to be evicted from the show. After he was shown the housemates who nominated him, he blew his fuse at Wendall. Wendall's fuse will see him wearing a floral swimming cap for the whole week.

Mumba on stage with IK after her eviction

Mumba was not lucky as that unfortunate swap by Vimbai saw her packing. Her eviction was really emotional as some of the housemates were in a state of shock, speechlessness, while others were in tears.

Mumba's fuse was however blown at Luclay again. Not only will the South African housemate not receive any message from home for a week, he will walk backwards throughout the week - a double fuse.

As per this week's votes, Lomwe had 5 country votes – votes from Malawi, Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya and Mozambique. Vina followed with 4 country votes receiving votes from Nigeria, Ethiopia, Ghana and the Rest of Africa.

Mumba had 3 country votes – votes from Zimbabwe, Zambia and Angola while Zeus had 2 country votes. He got votes from Botswana and South Africa.

Bernadina had the least number of voting obtaining 1 country vote from her home country, Namibia.

Viewers and fans were thrilled to exciting performances from Eltido featuring Banky W and the Amplified dancers.

Jackie Appiah looking stunning in new photos

Perhaps, no Ghanaian actress has the ‘good girl’ public demeanor as much as the lovable Jackie Appiah does. In these times when sexiness sells and most female celebrities bare more in going for the ‘sexy look’ in various photo shoots, Jackie remains conservative but always manages to look wholesome and stunning, as is evident in a new set of photos that were taken recently. It is not clear what these leaked photos would be used for but most of the photos show the actress with one musical instrument or the other. Could it be that the actress is following the musical footsteps of her Nollywood sisters, Genevieve Nnaji and Omotola? That would certainly be a surprise! It wouldn’t however be shocking if they turn out to be photos for some advertisements for this ‘queen of endorsements’. According to rumours, the actress was recently flown on a vacation trip to Turkey by a beauty and cosmetic brand that she represents in Ghana. Sources say the vacation was a reward for her outstanding behavior as the brand’s ambassador.
No matter what these pictures turn out to be for, Jackie remains gorgeous and stunningly wholesome!

Arena Task: Battle of Great Heights

Arena Task: Battle of Great Heights

As was to be expected this evening, Headsmates headed out to the Arena for some unusual activity - this week they had to battle in the sky in a Gladiators type of set up. On arrival, the Heads quickly grabbed pool noodles with which they fought one another.

The twist to the battles was that they had to do the fighting while airborne. Some Housemates were more at home in the sky than others. Wendall, being a pilot, was one Headsmate that appeared the most comfortable in the air, while Felicia was the most rattled by heights.

All in all, Headsmates were in good spirits and even sharing jokes while they thumped one another with noodles. Who does Africa think will come out with flying colours?

Flying high!

This week you get to save Confidence, Hanni, Millicent, Weza, Vimbai, Vina, Zeus. Vote now to save your favourite Housemates. Click Here to do so! Let your voice be heard!

Magazine launched to promote Ghana’s creative industry

A 44-page magazine dubbed “Scratch Magazine”, aimed at driving the growth of creative industry in Ghana has been launched in Accra on Wednesday.

The publication would focus on Ghana’s indigenous high Life music, local and foreign gospel music, light gossip, news about musicians and analysis of music videos.

Launching it, Mr Kofi Amoakohene, Chief Executive Officer of the Magazine, said the publication would inform readers on the status of the Ghanaian music industry, highlight requirements and progress of umbrella bodies such as the Copy Right Society of Ghana and Musicians Association of Ghana.

It would also provide information on development in the music industry, and inform up and coming musicians, producers and record label owners on the statutes of the industry.

Mr Amoakohene said the Magazine would be circulated in Nigeria, United Kingdom and Ghana.

He said governments around the globe had recognized the creative industry as a potential to create jobs, wealth and cultural engagement, through intellectual property.

He urged readers not to read the publication for fun but to identify benefits it would offer them through the inspiration of personality stories.

Mrs Sheila Amoakohene, Editor In-Chief of Scratch Magazine, said the publication would use the culture of music to empower and support the African child, particularly the underprivileged, in overcoming peculiar challenges, to enable them to play pivotal role in socio-economic development.

She said the Magazine would power, cover and publicize a series of concerts and outreach projects dubbed “Dream Train” in various towns in Ghana.

Mrs Sheila Amoakohene said the Magazine would provide opportunities for corporate bodies to sponsor and promote musical icons, concerts, and other socio-cultural and humanitarian activities, to enhance their corporate social responsibility status.

Mr Andrew Lawson, Marketing Officer of the Magazine, said the publication would teach and guide artistes, song writers, producers, sound engineers among others to enable them to attain professionalism.

“Scratch Magazine would also be the main source of that bit of industry news, which tabloid newspapers such as “Hot Gossip” would otherwise “die for”, he said.

JANELIA – IN ART, MUSIC and LOVE

Growing up in Ibadan, Oyo State Nigeria, Janelia started singing in the choir as a teenager and went on to sing professionally while in college, starting as a backup singer. This has seen her grow into a phenomenal musician, as can be witnessed in her music. Janelia has actually become what she wanted to do since she was young, become a singer, actress, wife and mom.
Janelia says that she is all about ART, MUSIC and LOVE:
“The ‘Art’ because I was born a natural artist, evident to my parents since I was a toddler. I also received a bachelor’s degree in “Fine Arts”. There are many things I do besides music, everything has to be artistically done and these many aspects of me can be perceived as a gestalt. I am Art.
The ‘Music’ because I just simply love music and singing gives me joy. It is also an extension of my artistic expression. Emotions I cannot paint, draw or braid about, I sing about. I love it so much that I have chosen to make a career of it and want my music to move people.
The ‘Love’ because it is the greatest of all. Like music, love is a universal language. We need more of it in this crazy world and it is a prevalent message in my music.”
Growing up in Nigeria, but currently living in America in Baltimore, MD, Janelia was exposed to many genres of music, and she had an appreciation for it all. This has made her musical influences range from Sade, Barbara Streisand, Bob Marley, Fela Kuti and more. She is a sucker for great love songs and that’s what she mostly writes about. Her music is mainly a blend of West African sounds with an urban feel. Her fluency in the Yoruba language can also be seen in her compositions and she hopes to add a few more Yoruba songsto her upcoming album.
Asked what her inspiration was, Janelia says “My inspiration comes from my experiences. I am also empathetic in many ways so I do not have to experience something before I write about it; I just have to feel it. Whether I experience it or feel it, one thing that is common is that it haunts me until I put it down on paper or sing about it. It could be specific lyrics or a melody or a thought provoking feeling; I am consumed by it until it is expressed. It’s usually one at a time, meaning I don’t write two or more songs concurrently.”
She describes the reception of her music as very positive, and is both amazed and grateful that all types of people from all over the world are liking her new song and video for “Love Song in Yoruba.” She further adds that good reception encourages her and bad reception encourages her to prove them wrong.
Asked about when to expect her album, Janelia says that her creative juices are still flowing and that the album is being recorded with live instruments together with some very talented musicians. It’s her hope that it will be completed before the end of the year and released by early 2012.
She dreams of touring the whole of Africa, UK, Australia, parts of Asia and generally anywhere her music is welcome.  She is currently planning to hit the road and do a national tour in America after her album is done, calling it a pre-album release tour. She is excited to meet with her fans and forge deeper connections.
Her advice for upcoming artists;
1. Be original
2. Always take it to the next level
3. Keep going… don’t let anyone tell you are not talented, as long as you know it, you are good!

Anthony David draws huge crowd in Nairobi concert

Anthony David
American singer and songwriter Anthony David performed in Kenya’s capital, Nairobi, recently at the National Park in a concert dubbed ‘The Lounge Unplugged’. Known for his hit ‘Words‘, featuring India Arie, he wowed the crowd with his songs, including some from his fourth album, ‘As Above, So Below‘. One of the singers he collaborates with is his cousin, Shawn Stockman, from the group Boys II Men.

Before Anthony got on stage, Kenyan group Elani opened the show. Elani is an Afro-soul musical group (or urban-afro as they like to term themselves) made up of Maureen Kunga, Wambui Ngugi, Bryan Chweya and Kimani Kibe. Their name means ‘light’ in the Giriama language. After their showcase, Anthony got on stage wearing a t-shirt made by Kenyan fashion house Urban Legend, to the delight of his swooning female fans.
After the event, fans got a chance to meet and greet the Grammy-nominated singer and get his autograph.  In an interview with Hot Secrets, Anthony said he is a Wangari Maathai fan. He admitted that she was one of the topics he looked up before coming to Kenya. He and his band also managed to sample part of Kenya’s nightlife. “ I loved listening to the music. Like we went to this club that played some really nice reggae, Kenyan, and Tanzanian music. That was fun.”  The show was sponsored by KCB Advantage and Capital FM.

Paint the town white at LOVE Nightclub in DC

Memorial Day weekend usually brings an invitation to honor our soldiers, past and present, and remember their sacrifices to keep us safe.    It also brings lots of parties to the DC/Maryland/Virginia (DMV) area.  One very popular party is the Ultra White Party, an annual celebration of contemporary African music by some of the hottest African DJs in the USA today.  This year’s Ultra White Party will be held at the spacious LOVE Nightclub at 1350 Okie St. NE, Washington DC 20002 on May 29, 2011 from 9pm-3am.  General admission is $20 and VIP is $40.

LOVE Nightclub is a great venue for the party because the DJs this year promise to deliver a fantastic party experience that won’t soon be forgotten.  The DJs are DJ Fully Focus (Kenya), DJ Yveco (Congo), DJ Sam I Am  (Senegal), and DJ Preview (Nigeria) and they collectively promise to catapult you into a dancing frenzy of hot international African music.
DJ Fully Focus has opened for many artists including Akon, Lil Wayne, Busta Rhymes, G Unit, Beres Hammond, Morgan Heritage and got his start in music as a radio DJ on college radio, WRFL 88.1FM in 2003 at The University Of Kentucky, before moving on to commercial radio in October of 2004 at WBTF 107.9FM The Beat in Kentucky.  His beats were so popular that he was given three time slots and helped boost the radio station’s ratings to an unprecedented high.
DJ Yveco is no stranger to the DC club scene.  He has been part of the Ultra White Party since it’s humble beginning and has been extremely instrumental in it’s success.  A popular DJ in the DMV, many will remember him from Juste Lounge in Bethesda.  He has also played at Izora, been the music behind the Cote Minou fashion line launch, and the familiar music at the Ultra White Party.
DJ Sam I Am has been a DJ since he was 9 years old.  He is proudly Salone (from Sierra Leone for those who don’t know), and his music reflects his love for rhythm and dance.
DJ Preview has an almost rabid following of faithful fans.  Associated with Nigerian DJs, a coalition of DJs who present the best in Nigerian music from around the world, DJ Preview has made  his mark as a DJ who can draw the crowd to the floor and keep them there.
The first two floors are sold out but you still have an opportunity to get your tickets in advance and get onto one of the two other floors.  The dress code (strictly enforced with no exceptions) is white, not cream, not off-white.  Accessories can be different colors but the main color must be white, after all, it is an ultra-white party!!
The event is brought to you by a BCBG Productions and IDOA Entertainment in collaboration with The Afrology Experience and All African Promotions. To get more information about this party and purchase your tickets, visit the official website.

Lotus Kyamba Evicted Big Brother Amplified

Big Brother Amplified has evicted the housemate Lotus Kyamba on Friday May 20, 2011.

This is in response to her contravention of the Big Brother rule against violence earlier in the day during an argument with Luclay.

Violence will not be tolerated in the series by M-Net and series producers Endemol.

Luclay pushed Lotus to the edge early this afternoon, reducing her to tears. But she fought back for all she was worth.

This transpired after a simple argument concerning the Head of House Task was blown out of proportion.

Lotus told the guys how she had forgotten to write the South African currency during the Head of House Task, and kicked herself for missing it, saying she had concentrated more on the European countries and by the time she went through the African countries, she could only write a few.

Luclay took offence, saying she had no respect for her host country. He continued to go to town about it, insinuating that Lotus had ignored South Africa on purpose because she didn't know the country uses the Rand. "You're disrespecting me now," Lotus warned;

Luclay apologised sarcastically, causing Lotus to cry and they then lashed out at each other, throwing harsh words and insults around. By the time the rest of the Tailsmates caught on to how far the altercation had progressed, it was too late, with Lotus really losing her cool and slapping Luclay.

Jossy out in Big Brother Africa Amplified

Jossy - Nambia (EVICTED)
Well, the musical relationships have started. Ernest and Bhoke had a good thing going (or at least that is what he thought) but she made it clear (after throwing herself at him shamelessly, previously) that she was a little concerned about perceptions and wanted to know where he stood and how he felt about her.  Hmmm….that didn’t go down very well.

Hanni and Lomwe seem to be attracted to each other and the Nic and Ernest talked about how Hanni was not an easy girl.  Wonder what it made the women they were with feel like?  Nic and Kim seem to be getting along rather nicely.  Let us see how long this lasts.
Jossy from Namibia was voted out of the house after losing a tie breaker.  Initially he got one country vote along with Confidence and Danny, so a percentages were used as a tie-breaker to determine who would stay.  Confidence had 18% and Danny 11% while Jossy had just 9%.  Danny moved from the Heads house to the Tails house and Confidence went back to Heads.
The voting breakdown was as follows:
Weza: 6 country votes, Angola, Tanzania, Zambia, South Africa, Malawi, Botswana (24%)
Vina: 3 country votes, Nigeria, Rest of Africa, Uganda (20%)
Vimbai: 3 country votes, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Kenya (17%)
Confidence: 1 country vote, Ghana (18%)
Danny: 1 country vote, Ethiopia (11%)
Jossy: 1 country vote, Namibia (9%)

Bongo Barbershop tracing the roots of hip hop from Diaspora to Africa

Producer Charlie Ahearn has come up with a documentary that features Balozi a.k.a. Dola Soul, an original member of the group Deplowmatz.  Balozi grew up in Nigeria for a little while before moving to the UK and then moving back to Tanzania.  It was here that he got involved with rap and was a founding member of the Deplowmatz, performing as Dola Soul.

Balozi stars in a short film (2005) by Charlie Ahearn, director of the classic movie ‘Wild Style‘, showing hip hop gone full circle. The film also stars some of the pioneers of hip hop music from the Bronx, including Grandmaster Flash’s original partner, DJ Easy Mike, and Grand Master Caz.
In the film, Balozi wanders into a Bronx barbershop on his pilgrimage to find the real hip-hop. The barber, DJ Easy Mike, calls out Grand Master Caz, who spits a rhyme on how we are in the place of hip-hops origins. Shop sweeper DOA adds vocal percussion to the mix and Balozi Dola rhymes back in his native tongue, Swahili. Bongo is the Swahili expression for brain used in local hip-hop slang.
Also check out the documentary ‘Hali Halisi – rap as an alternative medium in Tanzania‘, shot in 1999, featuring interviews with the old school of Tanzanian rappers including Balozi.
